CURRENT AGENDA
- YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK FOR YOU: Did you know that as a business owner, you can obtain 50% reimbursement of staff training costs like course tuition and training materials (e.g. CPR, OSHA, Implant, Laser, etc.) up to $50,000 per year - by simply completing a simple training grant request with NO application costs/fees? For more information, contact Mr. Terry LaVergne, Business Development Manager for WORKFORCE CENTRAL FLORIDA. Office: (352) 360-6518 x6091 or Mobile: (407) 782-8629.
- Last year marked the 10th anniversary of Dentists' Day on the Hill (3/22/06) and was again a great success! Rest assured that your FDA, lobbyists and delegates are hard at work to continue to protect the public we serve, as well as the practice and professsion of dentistry. Please show your resolve and support by contacting the state representative in your area and making a personal communication by phone or letter, AND by making a financial contribution to FLADPAC. Your efforts and actions DO COUNT!
- Did you know one of our LCDS members won a seat in the Florida House of Representatives, District 25? We are indeed proud and fortunate to have Dr. Alan Hays of Umatilla represent us in Tallahassee. However, he needs our help to continue to preserve a voice for us. Please consider a minimum $100.00 contribution towards his campaign fund. Specific details to follow. For more information on Representative Alan Hays, please refer to his site www.alanhays.com.
- Dentists who attend the LCDS meetings: Meeting sponsors help defray the costs of our meetings. Please support them by having a look and a word by learning about the product or service they provide. Thanks!
- LCDS has been registered with CE Broker since February 2006. All meeting attendees will be required to complete scan sheets for submission to CE Broker for credit tracking, whether or not you subscribe to CE Broker.
- All dentists need to apply for a NPI (National Provider Identifier) by May 23, 2007. This 10-digit number is a unique, government-issued, standard identification number for individual health care workers and provider organizations such as hospitals, clinics, schools and group practices. Application is free and easy: goto http://nppes.cms.hhs.gov. It takes ~30 minutes to complete. After receipt confirmation of your data, you should receive your NPI via e-mail in 1-5 business days. Applications to obtain an NPI began May 23, 2005. Some health plans may begin requesting NPIs prior to May 23, 2007 for electronic transactions.
- One way to help organized dentistry is to contribute to FLADPAC. Another way is to donate your time and expertise. Volunteering in the LCDS means no experience necessary, lots of opportunity to participate, and a great way to show you care. Any persons interested in becoming involved in the Lake County Dental Society by chairing a committee or just working on one, please let one of the LCDS officers or delegates know!
